Erling Haaland scored a 93rd-minute penalty as City came from a goal down to win 2-1 at Anfield in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s men dominated the opening 45 minutes and the best chance of the half came inside just three minutes as Bernardo Silva slipped Erling Haaland through with a clever pass, but the striker’s low strike was saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.

After not having a single effort on target in the first period, the hosts sprung into life after the break and should have had the opening goal as Mohamed Salah crossed for Hugo Ekitike, but the striker, who was unmarked inside the box, headed wide of the left post.

Dominik Szoboszlai blasted the Reds ahead from a long-range free-kick with just over 15 minutes left to play, but skipper Bernardo poked us level 10 minutes later.

Deep into stoppage time, Matheus Nunes was fouled by Alisson and Haaland confidently stepped up to stroke in his first goal at Anfield, sending the players and away fans into a frenzy.

Gianluigi Donnarumma had the final say, diving incredibly to his right side to tip over Alexis Mac Allister’s defelcted effort that was destined for the top corner, before Szoboszlai was sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity in a frenzied finish at Anfield.

The crucial three points move us back to within six points of league-leaders Arsenal in the table.
