Manchester City’s outstanding 7-0 victory over Leeds United has won the LMA Performance of the Week award.

The devastating display of attacking football was selected as the winner by the League Managers Association Panel, which includes LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Paul Ince, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett, Barry Fry and Rachel Yankey.

It’s an experienced and highly distinguished panel of football experts who have managed a combined total of more than 6,500 competitive matches in professional football.

Pep Guardiola, who also won the award when City beat Chelsea in September, will receive a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LMA Performance of the Week trophy.

City hit top form against Marcelo Bielsa’s side, outclassing our opponents to maintain our place at the top of the Premier League with our largest win of the season so far.

Kevin De Bruyne scored a brace, including a superb 25-yard drive, with Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez, John Stones and Nathan Ake also on target at the Etihad Stadium.

Foden’s opening goal was the 500th scored in the Premier League since Guardiola took charge and the Catalan reached that milestone in just his 207th game, which is quicker than any other manager in the competition’s history.

The win was our 33rd in 2021, which also saw us equal the English top-flight record Liverpool set in 1982 for the most victories in a calendar year.

Congratulations to Pep, his backroom staff and all the players.
