As 2020 draws to a close, here on mancity.com we’re looking back at the numbers behind Manchester City’s performances over the past 12-months..

In a challenging year, there has been plenty to celebrate on the pitch, where we have tasted success at all levels within the Club.

Our men and women’s first teams were both victorious at Wembley Stadium, whilst there were multiple trophies to celebrate for our Academy.

Take a look at the facts and figures that underpin our 2020 performances below, including one remarkable run of form.

Overall

123 - Between our men and women’s first teams, Elite Development Squad (EDS) and Under-18s, City played 123 times in 2020. That’s just less than one game every three days.

85 - We won 85 of those matches, giving us a win percentage across all four teams of 69.1%.

302 - Our teams scored 302 goals between them this year, at a rate of 2.46 goals per game.

6 - We lifted six trophies in 2020, with our Under-18s claiming four of them.

The Academy outfit won the U18 Premier League Cup in March and the FA Youth Cup in November, whilst they were also declared 2019/20 U18 Premier League Division North winners and U18 national champions on a points per game basis after the Academy games programme was ended early due to COVID-19.

Our trophy haul is completed by the Carabao Cup Pep Guardiola’s side won in March, when we defeated Aston Villa 2-1 and the Women’s FA Cup, which we lifted in November after beating Everton 3-1.

10 - Ten goals was the biggest winning margin from any of our teams. Our women’s first team beat Ipswich Town 10-0 in an FA Cup fifth round tie in February. Pauline Bremer, Jess Park and Georgia Stanway all scored hat-tricks.

23 - Our Under-18s capped what has been a particularly successful year by ending 2020 on a 23-match unbeaten run.

The side, which was managed by Gareth Taylor in 2019/20 and Carlos Vicens since the start of this season, managed to go through the whole of 2020 without losing a game.

Men’s first team

36 - Guardiola’s side won 36 out of 52 games in 2020, with a win percentage of 69.2%.

112 - We scored 112 goals in all competitions, averaging 2.15 goals per game.

5 - Five goals was our largest winning margin, which we achieved on six occasions. We beat Aston Villa 6-1 away in January and scored five without replay against Burnley (twice), Brighton and Hove Albion, Newcastle and Norwich.

10 - Pep’s men ended 2020 on our best run of form of the year, having gone 10-matches unbeaten since our 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on 21 November.

Women’s first team

20 - City won 20 of our 28 games in 2020 to leave us with a win percentage of 71.4%.

74 - We recorded a number of big wins on our way to netting 74 goals, at an average of 2.64 goals per game.

6 – We bounced back from the disappointment of losing the 2020/21 Community Shield to Chelsea to record our best form of the year. Gareth Taylor’s side went unbeaten in the following six games.

EDS

50 - With 10 wins from 20 games, the EDS, who were managed by Paul Harsley in 2019/20 and Enzo Maresca since the start of this season, end the year with a win percentage of 50%.

It is also the number of goals they scored throughout 2020, at a rate of 2.5 per game.

5 - Five goals was our biggest winning margin in the Premier League 2. Maresca’s side delivered a superb display in November to beat Liverpool 7-2, with Cole Palmer and Liam Delap both netting brilliant chips.

Under-18s

82.6 - With 19 wins from 23 games in 2020, the Academy outfit end the year with a hugely impressive win percentage of 82.6%.

66 - Our youngsters hit the back of the net 66 times at an average of 2.87 goals per game.

7 - The margin of victory in the Under-18s’ biggest win of the year, a 7-0 thrashing of Derby County in our penultimate game before the U18 Premier League campaign paused for Christmas.
