The tie against Eddie Howe’s team will be played at St. James’ Park in the week commencing Monday 25 September.
The draw took place on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football at the Eco-Power Stadium following Doncaster’s 2-1 home defeat to Everton.
Darren Moore was in charge of drawing the home team and Izzy Christiansen aided with the naming of the away sides in the draw.
City most recently lifted the trophy in 2021 having beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Wembley Stadium to lift the trophy for an eighth time in the Club’s history.
City and Newcastle have faced each other five times in the competition previously, with City winning three, drawing one and losing one.
The tie will separate our two Premier League fixtures between Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers which take place on Saturday 23 September and Saturday 30 September respectively.
