Following our maiden success in the competition last term, we entered the 2023/24 tournament as reigning champions for the first time.
Pep Guardiola’s side have since concluded our Group G campaign with a fine 3-2 win away at Red Star Belgrade which excellently maintained our 100% start in the competition this term.
After six matches played, we have recorded six wins meaning we have superbly qualified for the knockout stages as table toppers on 18 points.
This included home and away success over RB Leipzig, Young Boys and the Serbian Superliga champions en route to the last-16.
Here we take a look behind the staggering statistics and facts behind our European quest so far…

By winning all six of our Champions League group games so far in 2023/24, City have become the eighth side in the competition’s history to do so – and only the second English side.
We now join Paris Saint-Germain (1994/95), Spartak Moscow (1995/96), Barcelona (2002/03), Real Madrid (2011/12, 2014/15, 2023/24), Bayern Munich (2019/20, 2020/21, 2022/23), Liverpool (2021/22) and Ajax (2021/22) in doing so.
What’s more, the Blues are currently enjoying the longest winning streak in the competition, stretching back to last season, with eight – pipping Real Madrid (six) and Atletico Madrid (three).
THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
So far in the European tournament, City have scored a strong total of 18 goals which is higher than any other side.
This follows Guardiola’s team remarkably scoring three goals in each of our assignments – including 3-1 and 3-2 wins over Red Star, 3-1 and 3-2 successes against RB Leipzig and 3-1 and 3-0 victories over Young Boys.
Our goalscoring record is closely followed by Atletico Madrid (17) and Real Madrid and Arsenal (both 16).
GOAL GETTER
Erling Haaland has enjoyed another profitable term on the European stage to date by netting five goals in Group G.
The Norwegian’s tally is the joint highest in the tournament alongside Rasmus Hojlund (Manchester United), Alvaro Morata (Atletico Madrid) and Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid).
10 IN A ROW
By securing passage into the Round of 16 this year, we have now impressively reached the knockout stages for the 11th successive season.
The first term of this sparkling run came in 2013/14 where we reached the first knockout phase.
DEBUT DELIGHT
City Academy trio Oscar Bobb, Micah Hamilton and Mahamadou Susoho all made their Champions League debuts in this year’s tournament.
The Norwegian ace made his bow in our 3-1 success over Red Star at the Etihad Stadium in September.
He was then joined by our Elite Development Squad duo in the reverse fixture in Belgrade with Hamilton scoring on his senior debut to open the scoring in the 3-2 win.
Bobb also netted his first goal for the Club in the success in Serbia’s capital – with his superb solo effort being nominated for the Champions League goal of the week.
YOUNG GUN
By netting against Red Star, Hamilton became City’s youngest debutant goalscorer in the competition at 20-years-old and 30 days.
The versatile forward also became the fifth-youngest Englishman to score on his Champions League bow.
SHARING IS CARING
The Blues’ 18 goals has been shared across nine different goalscorers – the most of any other side in the competition.
These have been spread between Haaland (five), Julain Alvarez (four) and Manuel Akanji, Bobb, Jeremy Doku, Rodrigo, Kalvin Phillips and Hamilton (all on one).
PASS MASTERS
With a staggering total of 4080 completed passes in the Champions League this season, City have recorded the most out of any other side.
In fact, we have tallied just shy of 500 more than second-highest Real Madrid (3537).
Perhaps unsurprisingly, this also puts the Treble winners at the top of the pass accuracy chart with a percentage of 92.6% of our attempts finding a teammate.
EVERGREEN
City starlet Rico Lewis has featured the most out of any City player in the Champions League this term after playing in all six of our Group G assignments.
In total, he has amassed 457 minutes and registered two assists.
