Manchester City will begin preparations for the 2024/25 season with a pre-season tour of the United States in July and early August.

After becoming the first men’s team in English football history to win four consecutive top-flight titles last term, we will play four matches in collaboration with FC Series, a showcase for international clubs with matches across the US.

SATURDAY 3 AUGUST: City v Chelsea, USA Tour 2024/25

CITY 1-0 CHELSEA (APRIL 2024)

Bernardo Silva’s late strike at Wembley helped City secure passage into the FA Cup final with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea the last time the sides locked horns.

The Portugal international smashed home a low strike on 84 minutes following an inviting Kevin De Bruyne cross to book our place in the competition’s showpiece for a second straight season.

Pep Guardiola’s side had to dig deep following an exhausting Champions League meeting with Real Madrid a few days before and we defended heroically against Mauricio Pochettino’s side who looked strong in attack.

Following Bernardo’s opener, referee Michael Oliver added on eight minutes of injury time, but City were able to push Chelsea back for the majority of it and saw out the tie for a fantastic victory.

CITY 1-1 CHELSEA (FEBRUARY 2024)

Rodrigo scored an 83rd minute equaliser to ensure City shared the spoils with Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.

In an enthralling, end-to-end encounter – Raheem Sterling broke the deadlock for the visitors on the cusp of half-time when the forward collected the ball, cut inside and fired past Ederson.

Following the interval, both teams spurned a number of chances at it appeared the England international’s goal would be the decisive moment.

However, Guardiola’s side further reflected our title credentials when Rodrigo fired home a deserved equaliser seven minutes from time.

CHELSEA 4-4 CITY (NOVEMBER 2023)

City’s meeting with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in November 2023 produced a Premier League classic as the sides played out an eight-goal thriller.

In a pulsating game, the visitors thought we had scored a winner when Rodrigo’s 86th minute strike deflected into the net – only for Cole Palmer’s penalty to earn the hosts a 4-4 draw on an enthralling night in the capital.

Erling Haaland had opened the scoring from the spot in the 25th minute before Thiago Silva equalised for Pochettino’s men soon after.

As the match continued to ebb and flow, Chelsea then took the lead through Raheem Sterling, but Manuel Akanji’s header on the cusp of the interval had the sides level once again.

The game’s fifth goal came shortly after the break with Haaland sliding the ball home – however – Nicolas Jackson netted the hosts’ third before the incredibly late drama at both ends of the pitch.

CITY 1-0 CHELSEA (MAY 2023)

Our final home assignment of our historic, Treble-winning campaign saw City record a 1-0 win over Chelsea 24 hours after being crowned Premier League champions.

A day of celebration was guaranteed at the Etihad regardless of the score after the Blues had sealed the top-flight crown after Arsenal’s defeat to Nottingham Forest the day before.

Julian Alvarez scored the game’s only goal – rifling home from just inside the area in the 12th minute.

The success also extended our winning run to 12 league matches which, at the time, was the fifth time we had a run that long during Guardiola‘s reign.
