However, he is yet to resume squad training and Guardiola says City will use the international break to help the 29-year-old regain his match fitness.
The boss is also hopeful the pause in domestic action will give Gabriel Jesus time to recover from the muscular problem he picked up against Wolves.
“Today was the first day he [Gundogan] came back to the locker room, but he didn’t train with us,” said Guardiola at his pre-match press conference.
“He will train with us during the international break and we will see.”
On Jesus, he added: “He is not ready. Hopefully after the international break he will be ready.”
Guardiola will be able to call on the services of Dias this weekend, with the new signing available for Saturday evening’s clash.
The 23-year-old has trained twice since completing his move from Benfica, though Guardiola is yet to decide whether he will hand the defender his debut at Elland Road.
“He [Dias] trained twice - yesterday and today,” said Pep.
“He settled good. He is part of the team, we have a training session this afternoon.”
Guardiola is predicting Leeds will pose a unique test in the first league meeting between the two sides since 2004.
The 49-year-old hugely admires Marcelo Bielsa, a manager he admits has caused him problems in their previous encounters and he is expecting the same again.
“Against Leeds, they are completely different to any other team in the Premier League,” added Guardiola.
“We have to play our game. There are many, many aspects in a game. We have to control it.
“They are a team, fight for each other, defend a lot around the box. They have a good build up. At the right moment, they arrive with a lot of players.
“I played three times against Marcelo at [Athletic] Bilbao, and every game was so difficult.”
