Yesterday’s victory saw Pep Guardiola’s side secure our 10th consecutive victory in all competitions as we enter the business end of the campaign.

Erling Haaland’s brace against Dean Smith’s side raised his league tally to 32 goals – equalling the highest amount by a player in a single 38 game Premier League season.
This total sees him match Mohamed Salah’s tally from the 2017/18 top flight season, with eight league matches left to play and move ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally of 31 from 2008/09 and Luis Suarez’s 31 from 2013/14.
The Norwegian ace averages 1.14 goals per league game across his 28 appearances in the Premier League.
Across all competitions in 2022/23, Haaland has scored 47 goals since making the switch from Borussia Dortmund in pre-season.
VERSATILE PALMER
With 30 minutes to play at the Etihad Stadium, Cole Palmer replaced Kevin De Bruyne, but didn’t feature in a familiar role on the wing.
Instead, he was deployed by Guardiola in a more central role – which Palmer flourished in.
Speaking on Matchday Live alongside Neil Lennon and Paul Dickov, Joleon Lescott was impressed by our youngster’s adaptability.
“I think he did well. Cole can play in any of the forward positions,” he explained.
“Working with him with our Under-21s, we play him as a No.9 a few times as well so it doesn’t surprise me to see him play that role.
“He’ll be used to this system throughout his Academy life, so he’s probably one of the guys that hasn’t had to adapt as much as some of the others.
“He executed it in my opinion.”

Kevin De Bruyne’s assist for our third and Haaland’s second of the afternoon is the eighth time the Belgian has provided for the prolific striker in the league this term.
By doing so the pair have become the second highest to combine ever in a Premier League season.
Now, they’re only behind the tallies of nine by Harry Kane to Heung-Min Son (2020/21), Stan Collymore to Robbie Fowler (1995/96) and Mike Newell to Alan Shearer (1995/96).

City were at our slick best yesterday when it came to moving the ball across the pitch.
Out of the 754 passes we played across the 90 minutes, 92 percent of those were completed as we transitioned well against Leicester.
