1947: Sam Cowan’s City lose 1-0 at Sheffield Wednesday but Burnley’s defeat the same day means the Club are still crowned champions of Division Two.
1975: Promising Manchester-born striker Roger Palmer joins City from Manchester Boys.
Palmer makes his debut more than two years later in a 2-0 win at Middlesbrough and scores his first City goals in his third game, a 2-2 draw at Newcastle in which he scores both goals.

Palmer goes on to register 11 goals in 29 starts for City before being sold to Oldham Athletic in 1980.
2006: Paul Dickov signs for City for a second time after agreeing a two-year deal with manager Stuart Pearce.
The diminutive Scot arrives on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers and is welcomed back like a hero by the City fans who will forever associate him with the goal that saved City from defeat against Gillingham in the 1999 Division Two play-off final.
Dickov’s second spell is ruined by injuries that keep him side-lined for the best part of five months, but he still manages to play in a handful of games before going out on loan to Crystal Palace and later Blackpool before returning to Leicester in 2008.
2015: England captain Steph Houghton signs a new contract with City until the end of the 2017 season.
“I’m extremely delighted. It was always in my mind that I wanted to be here for longer. I feel so at home at City,” the England skipper tells the Club website.
“I knew I wanted to be part of the club’s future over the next few years. I feel we’re heading in the right direction.”
