Grealish and Sterling go into the latest international break having got off the mark for the season with their goals against Norwich last weekend, whilst Stones needs just one cap to reach a landmark 50th appearance for his country.
City’s players will depart after Saturday’s game against Arsenal and face three games in seven days.
England, who currently sit top of Group I with a 100% record from the opening three fixtures, travel to Budapest to play Hungary on Thursday 2 September, before returning home to face Andorra at Wembley Stadium three days later.
They conclude with an away trip to Poland on Wednesday 8 September.
Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva were all called up by Portugal on Thursday for qualifying games against Ireland and Azerbaijan, which fall either side of a friendly with Qatar.
