The City class of 2022/23 have forever etched their names into the Club’s history book.

As the curtain fell on the campaign, Pep Guardiola and his side claimed the Treble, becoming the first side in 24 years to do so and only the second ever to achieve the feat.

This, of course, was tremendously made up of our third successive Premier League crown, our seventh FA Cup and our precious, maiden Champions League triumph.

Throughout the season, those who donned sky blue with class and conviction smashed a swathe of records while racking up staggering numbers in a variety of departments.

Here we look at some of those statistics from across the term which saw us add three more major honours into our illustrious trophy cabinet.

WIN RATIO

In all competitions, City won 44 of our 61 games which gave us superb win percentage of just over 72%.

The bulk of these unsurprisingly came in the league (28), with eight coming in European competition, six in the FA Cup and three in the Carabao Cup.

Thanks to our 28 Premier League successes, this contributed to 84 of our 89 points en route to our fifth title in six seasons.

In total, we lost only seven games (five in the league and one in the League Cup and Community Shield) while remaining unbeaten in the Champions League and FA Cup.

PASS AND MOVE

Across every game City played last season, we averaged 63.6% possession of the ball – thus highlighting our strength with it at our feet and the belief Guardiola’s team has in our principles of play.

GOALS GALORE

In total, City scored a whopping 151 goals in all competitions which averages just shy of 2.5 per game.

A tally of 94 of these came in the Premier League, 32 in the Champions League, 19 in the FA Cup and five in the Carabao Cup.

Erling Haaland’s phenomenal maiden term at the Etihad Stadium saw him sit atop our scoring charts in all competition with a staggering 52.

As a result, the Norwegian was our highest scoring player in the league (36) and Champions League (12) which saw him claim the Golden Boot in the respective competitions.

It was also a debut season to remember in front of goal for Julian Alvarez who scored 17 in all competitions while becoming the first player in history to win the Treble and the World Cup in the same season.

PLAYMAKERS

Our immense goalscoring statistics are underpinned by our fantastic creative players who sit in every department on the pitch.

Kevin De Bruyne registered an astonishing 28 assists in all competitions, while creating 137 chances across his 2022/23 outings.

The Belgian maestro’s tally of 16 in the Premier League saw him deservedly win the Playmaker award and his total of six in the Champions League was the most in the competition.

In our 4-1 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium in April, De Bruyne achieved his 100th assist in the Premier League – becoming the fastest player to do so.

Hot on the heels of the instrumental midfielder, is Riyad Mahrez who registered 13 assists in all competitions and Jack Grealish (11).

ELECTRIC ERLING

Haaland certainly had a first season at the Etihad to remember thanks to his spellbinding goalscoring exploits.

His tally of 36 Premier League goals saw him set a new record for the most in a single season and his minutes per league goal (77mins/goal) is the best ratio of any player in the division’s history.

The 22-year-old scored the most goals in the Champions League in a single campaign for the Club (12) and he hit the 30 goal mark in the competition in fewer matches and at a younger age than any other player.

GOLIATH GUARDIOLA

The magnificent tenure of Guardiola at City reached exceptional new heights in 2022/23.

We have now won 197 of our 266 Premier League matches since his arrival. That’s a wonderful win percentage of 74%, just under three wins in every four games.

It’s an incredible 25 wins more than Liverpool in second place and 51 better than Tottenham Hotspur who are third.

The inspiring Catalan also became the first manager in history to win two trebles in the men’s game surpassing a plethora of phenomenal tacticians by doing so.

That notable list includes fabled figures such as Jock Stein, who achieved the feat with Celtic in the 1966/67 season, Stefan Kovacs of Ajax (1971/72), Guus Hiddink with PSV (1987/88), Sir Alex Ferguson with Manchester United (1998/99), Jose Mourinho with Inter (2009/10), Jupp Heynckes of Bayern Munich (2012/13), Luis Enrique of Barcelona (2014/15) and Hansi Flick of Bayern Munich (2019/20).

By lifting his third Champions League trophy in his sparkling management career, he now holds the joint second most in history and sits only one behind Carlo Ancelotti who has four with spells at AC Milan (two) and Real Madrid (two).

PASS MASTERS

Sky blue supporters have accustomed to City controlling games with slick and accurate passes, with those principles the key to Guardiola’s success at the Etihad Stadium.

Across our 61 matches in all competitions, we completed 35,142 passes.

Champions League final hero Rodrigo boasts the most successful passes with 4068 while defenders Ruben Dias (3180) and Manuel Akanji (3088) sit second and third.

SOLID FOUNDATIONS

In total, City registered 27 clean sheets, which was a product of our mean defensive record throughout the term.

As a collective defensive unit, we registered 136 blocks, 812 tackles and won 2673 duels across our appearances in all competitions.

Rodrigo sat at the top of our total tackles (108) and duels won (277) charts – further highlighting his tremendous personal campaign.

When it comes to defensive blocks, though, the Spaniard’s 20 is pipped by Dias who tallied 23, while his centre back partner John Stones totalled 16 in all competitions.

LONGEST UNBEATEN RUN

Our impeccable run from February, March, April and May of 25 games without loss saw us leapfrog Arsenal to the Premier League’s summit and into FA Cup and Champions League finals.

Starting with a professional 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium over Aston Villa, we went on to beat our title rival Gunners twice and beat Real Madrid 4-0 to enter the European showpiece in epic fashion.

During that astonishing streak, we scored 70 goals and conceded just 14 times.
