Thanks to Erling Haaland’s sublime brace and Rodrigo’s second-half strike, Pep Guardiola’s side began the defence of our league title in the perfect fashion with a 3-0 victory at Turf Moor.
With fixtures coming thick and fast at the beginning of the season, though, the Treble winners were back on the pitch for a recovery session as our attention turned to the UEFA Super Cup final.
City will lock horns with Sevilla on Wednesday 16 August for the first European prize of the season, with kick-off at Greece’s Karaiskakis Stadium at 20:00 (UK).
The tie represents the first time we’ve featured in the prestigious showpiece after we ended our tremendous 2022/23 campaign by winning the maiden Champions League crown of our illustrious history.
