A piece of individual brilliance from Gabriel Jesus ensured Manchester City’s clash with Liverpool ended all square at a rain-sodden Etihad Stadium.

The visitors took the lead inside the opening 15 minutes when Mo Salah tucked home from the spot after Sadio Mane was brought down in the box by Kyle Walker.

We immediately pushed for a route back into the game, and almost found it when Raheem Sterling got on the end of a typically sumptuous ball into the box from Kevin De Bruyne.

But visiting stopper Alisson made himself big and did well to thwart our winger’s effort on goal from the left just before the 25-minute mark.

That chance brought Pep Guardiola’s men to life, and we were soon level thanks to a delightful turn and finish from Jesus.

With his back to goal, the Brazilian spun on a sixpence past Trent Alexander-Arnold after receiving a pass from De Bruyne, before poking home in the 31st minute.

And it could have got even better for City on the stroke of half time, when Gomez was judged to have handled a cross from the right.

But the De Bruyne, for once, was unable to hit the target; stroking his penalty agonisingly wide of the left-hand post five minutes before the break.

We were inches from taking the lead once again ten minutes after the restart when Gabriel Jesus planted a header just wide after meeting Joao Cancelo’s floated cross from the left.

Both sides pressed for a late advantage, but it was to no avail with two of the Premier League’s title favourites cancelling each other out in the pouring rain.
