The first members of Manchester City’s squad returned to the CFA today for the inaugural day of pre-season training ahead of the start of the 2021/22 season.

Though many of Pep Guardiola’s squad are still on their summer breaks following their exertions in the recent European Championships and Copa America, a number of players reported back for duty as the countdown steps up ahead of the new season.

And though it will still be a while before the full squad returns, for the boss and those players back at work today there will be valuable time to work together ahead of the 2021/22 campaign with City also preparing for important forthcoming pre-season friendlies against Preston North End and Troyes.

As our gallery reveals amongst those reporting back for duty today were Algerian wing wizard Riyad Mahrez and flying full-back Benjamin Mendy.

Fresh from signing his new contract extension, skipper Fernandinho was also back at the CFA.

Appropriately enough, the returning players were greeted by clear blue skies and glorious sunshine as they prepared for Monday’s inaugural session.
