When the Blues return to Arsenal on Wednesday, we can do so with the confidence that comes from recent victories in North London.

Mikel Arteta’s side are a different proposition this season, but Pep Guardiola has an excellent record at Arsenal since coming to City.

Our boss has won five and drawn one of his six Premier League trips to Arsenal so far.

With Arsenal sitting top of the Premier League, perhaps we can draw on recent performances at the Gunners’ home for inspiration ahead of this week’s crunch clash.

Here we’ll reflect on some of our favourites…

Arsenal 1-2 City, 1 January 2022

A decisive moment in the 2021/22 Premier League campaign, giving the Blues the boost needed for the second half of our fourth Premier League winning campaign under Pep Guardiola.

Arsenal were the better side in the first half and deserved their lead when Bukayo Saka scored in the 31st minute. However, City rode out that wave and responded in the second half, first with a Riyad Mahrez penalty and then with Rodrigo’s turn and finish in the final moments of the game.

It sparked wild celebrations and 12 wins from our last 17 games to edge out Liverpool in the title race.

Arsenal 0-3 City, 15 December 2019

City, struggling for consistency at the time, looked at our best in this one. Kevin De Bruyne scored the first in just the second minute with an incredible first-time finish into the roof of the net.

The Belgian then turned creator shortly afterwards with a run and cross down the left that ended with a sweeping Raheem Sterling finish. De Bruyne completed the scoring before the break by breaking through Arsenal’s midfield and curling a left-footed effort into the corner of Bernd Leno’s goal.

Not City’s best season under Pep Guardiola, but another performance at Arsenal to savour.

Arsenal 0-2 City, 12 August 2018

Having been Centurions only a few months prior, there may have been talk about City lacking the motivation for another title race in 2018/19. This opening day victory put that talk to bed.

City dominated the early period and got the rewards through Raheem Sterling in the 14th minute.

Bernardo Silva doubled the lead in the second half with the sweetest of strikes from the edge of the box. A fine day’s work that set the foundation for a season that saw City go on to lift all available domestic trophies.

Arsenal 0-3 City, 1 March 2018

The complete City performance. With the Beast from the East holding the UK in its icy grip, the Blues put in a near-perfect display to cruise to this victory.

Well on the way to a Premier League points record and fresh from beating Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final just five days earlier, City ran riot in this one.

It started with Bernardo Silva working an angle in the box and curling a shot into the top corner. David Silva made it two shortly afterwards, linking up with Sergio Aguero to devastating effect.

It was the third goal which most had fans purring however, with City working out of a tight spot in our own right-back spot brilliantly before setting the pace of Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane free for the German to complete the move.
