The 35-year-old has now won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and six League Cups during a glittering eight-year stay at City, playing 347 matches for the Club in all competitions.
And he says the level of competition in English football means winning the title here is a supreme achievement.
“I am so proud and so happy with what we have achieved,” the midfielder said. “The Premier League is the hardest league in world football – every single game is tough.
“To win it again means the world to me and the rest of the squad.
“Winning the Premier League title is the ultimate fulfilment of our ambitions. It’s what we all dreamed of as young players, so to do it is a wonderful feeling.”
The Brazilian was voted in as captain during the summer after the departure of Club legend David Silva.
And he has guided the squad with distinction, a player who always puts the team first, with his leadership on and off the pitch valued by players across the first-team and Academy setups.
He says it’s a privilege to lead a group of players with such desire and ambition.

“To captain this team is an honour and a privilege because the players have given their all throughout season, whether in training or in matches,” he added.
“The teamwork has been amazing. Football is everything to us and we strive every single day to be as good as we can be in the hope we can bring success to Manchester City.”
And in a season like no other, one heavily affected by the Coronavirus pandemic, City have had to play without our fans by our side.
Fernandinho says the whole squad wanted to win the Premier League title to help bring some joy to our supporters who have been unable to attend games this season – and he promised to do all he can to ensure we win the Champions League for the first time when we face Chelsea in Europe’s showpiece final at the end of the month.
“We have missed the fans so much,” he said. “We wanted to do this for them.
“We will enjoy this moment and we hope the fans do too.
“Rest assured we will continue to do everything we can to bring the Champions League home this season.”
