Ilkay Gundogan scored twice either side of a Bruno Fernandes penalty as we lifted the FA Cup for the seventh time in our history.
It was the first-ever all-Manchester derby in the FA Cup final and an occasion that City fans will never forget along with manager Pep Guardiola.
“The atmosphere was fantastic, a lovely day and it finished perfect for us,” he said after the full-time whistle.
We take a look at the facts and figures from a fabulous day at Wembley…
Ilkay’s impact
There’s only place to begin and that’s with Gundogan’s astonishing strike to give us the perfect start.
Our captain’s sensational volley was clocked at 12.91 seconds making it the fastest goal in FA Cup final history.
It beat the previous record in a final held by Everton’s Louis Saha who scored after just 25 seconds in the 2009 final against Chelsea.
Gundogan’s opener was also faster than City’s quickest ever goal in the Premier League, scored by Jesus Navas after 13.76 seconds in the 6-0 victory over Tottenham in 2013.
His second volley meant he became the first player to score twice from outside the box in a single FA Cup final since 1963.
History makers
City have now won the FA Cup seven times, which is the joint-sixth most in the competition’s history.
Victory also meant we extended our record for the longest time between a club’s first FA Cup win and most recent – 119 years - with our first triumph in the competition coming back in 1904.
This is also the second time we have completed a league and FA Cup double, following a similar achievement in 2018/19 when City also lifted the Carabao Cup to become the only Club to win the domestic treble.
We now face Inter in the final of the UEFA Champions League on June 10 in Istanbul with the possibility of completing a historic Treble.
King Kevin
Kevin De Bruyne claimed two more assists in the win over United to take his total to 28 in all competitions for the season.
It’s a phenomenal record that puts him at the top of the charts for assists for any player in Europe’s top-five leagues with one game of the season remaining.
He’s already confirmed as England’s top assister again with 12 more than any other Premier League player.
De Bruyne had already collected the Playmaker of the Year Award for a record third time as the Premier League’s top assister.
Goals, goals, goals
City have now reached 150 goals for the season with one game remaining.
It’s a milestone that has only be achieved by an English top-flight side on three previous occasions in a single campaign.
And the other times it happened were all done by City too.
We did in 2013/14 (with 156 goals), in 2018/19 (169 goals), and last season (150 goals).
Mean defence
We continued our superb defensive form although Fernandes’ penalty was the only goal City conceded in the FA Cup this season after 483 minutes without being breached.
The spot-kick, given after an intervention by VAR after the ball flicked Jack Grealish’s fingers, was United’s only shot on target during the 90 minutes.
They had two more attempts on target in the space of five seconds but Stefan Ortega Moreno kept out scrambled efforts from Raphael Varane and Scott McTominay.
In his debut season, the German has averaged a goal conceded every 174 minutes over his 14 appearances.
