Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions will travel to France to face the Ligue 2 title-holders on Saturday 31 July.
ESTAC will host the game at Stade de l’Aube in what will prove invaluable preparation for each club as they prepare for their respective 2021/22 curtain-raisers. While the French outfit will face Paris Saint-Germain on the opening day of their league season the following week, the Cityzens travel to Wembley to face Leicester City in the FA Community Shield.
Troyes became the 10th CFG club in September 2020 and went on to lift the Ligue 2 title later that season. Promotion to the top tier of French football ended a three-year absence for the 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup winners.
The friendly will be the fifth meeting of Manchester City with clubs under the City Football Group umbrella. Both men’s and women’s teams have played their Melbourne counterparts in previous years, while Guardiola has led his team in friendlies against Girona and Yokohama during his time at the Club.
CFG chief executive Ferran Soriano said: “We are delighted to confirm this meeting of two City Football Group clubs.
“ESTAC had an amazing season since it joined the City Football Group. We look forward to having this opportunity to meet in person and in Troyes to continue exchanging knowledge and experiences between ESTAC and Manchester City. We are also looking forward meeting with the Troyes fans and everybody connected to the club, to continue developing our family relationship.
“The game will provide a competitive environment on the field for both teams to continue their preparations for the season. We expect a vibrant game and a fantastic spectacle.”
Information regarding ticketing and how fans can watch the action will follow in due course.
