An unforgettable 2021-22 campaign for Manchester City has concluded with one more notable plaudit for the newly-crowned Premier League champions.

In the wake of the 2022 Champions League final, Pep Guardiola’s multi-talented squad have secured the distinction of ending the season as the highest scorers across Europe in all competitions.

All told, City racked up a remarkable 150 goals across the course of 10-month long campaign that culminated in our fourth league title in five years last weekend.

From our overall tally of 57 games from the competitive season, that saw us record a superb average of 2.63 goals per game.

That magnificent haul saw us finish top of the goal scoring charts across the continent, with Premier League rivals Liverpool the next highest cumulative scorers with a tally of 147.

Across the rest of Europe, German giants Bayern Munich were third highest all-round scorers, the Bundesliga champs accruing 143 goals in total.

Fellow Premier League rivals Chelsea finished fourth on the European scoring charts, Thomas Tuchel’s side racking up 122 goals with newly-crowned Champions League winners Real Madrid fifth on 119.

It’s yet further affirmation of the assertive attacking philosophy that embodies Guardiola’s side.

And, as with our latest league title success, the achievement was also very much a squad affair, further embodying the Club’s collective ethos

Remarkably, all told, 18 players found the scoresheet across the 21/22 campaign, further illustrating the goal scoring prowess of the City squad.

Seven different players – Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan – finished in double figures for the season.

What’s more, four individuals – De Bruyne, Foden, Jesus and Joao Cancelo - were in double digits on the assist charts too.

Further breaking down the goal stats, City served up 99 in the course of our successful Premier League title defence, averaging 2.61 goals from our 38 games.

Meanwhile, 29 came from our Champions League run, a further 16 from our FA Cup campaign and six in the Carabao Cup.

On an individual basis, Mahrez ended as top scorer across all competitions with a superb haul of 24, closely followed by De Bruyne (19) and Raheem Sterling (17).

In the Premier League itself, KDB took top spot with 15 strikes, to finish just ahead of Sterling (13) and Mahrez (11).
