Rayan Cherki and Matheus Nunes both impressed for their national teams on Sunday.

Cherki played for 78 minutes of France’s 3-1 win over Colombia at the Northwest Stadium, Maryland.

The City star created several chances and was a constant threat to the Colombian defence that conceded twice in the first half, first to a Désiré Doué strike on 29 minutes and then to a Marcus Thuram goal on 41.

Doué struck again on 56 to all-but settle an entertaining friendly, before Jaminton Campinez pulled one back on 77 for the South Americans.

Cherki’s evening ended a minute later when he was replaced by Bayern Munich’s Michael Olisie.

The City No.10 created three chances, won five fouls and ended with an accuracy of 90% on the 50 passes he made.

Nunes, winning his 18th cap, was making his first start for Portugal for two years, playing in the right-back position he has been so impressive in for City.

He made a solid contribution in the 0-0 draw with Mexico, watched by a crowd of more than 84,000 at the Estadio Banorte in Mexico City.

Nunes was one of seven starters replaced at half-time by coach Roberto Martinez, with Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot his replacement.

Bernardo and Ruben Dias were not included in Portugal’s squad for the games with Mexico and the USA.
