We secured progression past Round Three on Wednesday night, thanks to a 2-0 victory over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.
In what was arguably the tie of the round, Riyad Mahrez’s sublime free-kick and Julian Alvarez’s third goal in as many matches were the difference against Graham Potter’s side.
It was the perfect start to our cup quest as we aim to add to our haul of eight League Cup trophies.
Last season, we were denied winning the cup for five consecutive seasons as we exited on penalties to West Ham at the same stage as we face the Reds.
The meeting with Jurgen Klopp’s side is a repeat of the 2016 final, where we edged past the Merseyside club on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Round Four will be played in the week commencing 19 December and will be the first domestic action after the World Cup finals.
The exact date of City’s match with Liverpool is yet to be announced but will be confirmed on mancity.com when the decision is made.
Ticket information will also be made available in due course.
The full draw is as follows:
Wolves v Gillingham
Southampton v Lincoln
Blackburn v Nottingham Forest
Newcastle v AFC Bournemouth
City v Liverpool
Manchester United v Burnley
MK Dons v Leicester
Charlton v Brighton
