Looking back at events - good and bad - that happened on this day in our history...

April 14

1964: Having announced his retirement, Bert Trautmann’s testimonial is played at Maine Road and officials are taken back as 47,901 turn up to pay homage to the brilliant German goalkeeper.

Trautmann’s combined City and Manchester United side beat a glittering All Star International XI 5-4 and the gate was more than double the average league crowd for that season.

CITYZENS AT HOME

2012: Carlos Tevez’s stunning hat-trick helps City overwhelm Norwich 6-1 at Carrow Road to reduce Manchester United’s lead to two points at the Premier League summit.

Tevez’s swerving effort beat John Ruddy before he set up Sergio Aguero before Norwich replied through Andrew Surman.

But Tevez boosted the lead with a header and Aguero‘s solo effort added the gloss before the Argentine rounded Ruddy to complete his hat-trick with City adding a late sixth.

2013: City booked our place in the FA Cup final thanks to a hard-fought 2-1 semi-final win over Chelsea at Wembley.

Roberto Mancini’s side looked on course for a comfortable victory as goals either side of half-time from Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero gave us a deserved 2-0 lead the lead.

However, Demba Ba’s fine goal set up a nervy finish but City held firm to book a ticket to the final along with Wigan Athletic.

CITY+ - Free to Cityzens until football resumes

2018: City moved to the brink of Premier League title glory as we recorded a superb 3-1 win against Tottenham at Wembley.

Early strikes from Gabriel Jesus and Ilkay Gundogan’s penalty fired us into a two-goal lead and though Christian Eriksen narrowed the deficit, Raheem Sterling sealed the victory 18 minutes from time.

2019: Nick Cushing’s City booked our ticket through to the FA Women’s Cup final thanks to a dramatic 1-0 semi-final triumph over Chelsea.

An injury time own goal from Magdalena Eriksson at the Academy Stadium proves the difference and means City will head to Wembley where we will meet West Ham in the showpiece final.
