Bernardo Silva has spoken of his pride at hearing Pep Guardiola praise him wholeheartedly following his Player of the Match performance in the thrilling win over Real Madrid.

Bernardo was the two-goal hero in a remarkable 4-0 victory over Los Blancos, a result – allied to the first leg 1-1 draw – which sent us through to the final in Istanbul next month.

And in his post-match interview, Guardiola described Bernardo as ‘one of the best players I have ever seen in my life’.

The compliment meant a lot to Bernardo as he looked back on a night to remember.

He said: “I’m really happy, because I have a great relationship with him, and he is one of the greatest managers of all time.

“This praise from someone who has managed the best teams in the world means a lot to me, so I hope to pay it back through my performances and by helping this club achieve the most we can.

“The fans also deserve this, they have been great all season and were so again tonight.”

Bernardo did however sound a word of warning following progress through to the showpiece on 10 June.

He added: “There are three competitions to play for – and we can still win none, one, two or all three.

“We’ll see if we can lift the Premier League again this Sunday at home with our fans, and from there we have two more finals, which are both very difficult, against United and Inter, who are a very organised side.

“We’ll study them, follow the boss’ plan once more and try to give our fans everything that this club deserves.

“We’ll try to win it all, we know it will be difficult, but we’ll try.”
