Manchester City and Liverpool have dominated the Premier League for the past five seasons, and they go toe to toe once again this weekend.

Pep Guardiola’s men welcome Liverpool to the Etihad Stadium this Sunday in a showdown which could have a huge influence on this season’s Premier League title race.

City currently hold a one-point advantage over the visitors who themselves are 12 clear of the chasing pack.

The two sides have won each of the last four Premier League titles and, given the daylight between us and third-placed Chelsea, that record is likely to reach a fifth year.

Indeed, both Guardiola and Klopp’s men are the only sides to average over two points per match since the 2017/18 campaign, scoring the most goals and conceding the fewest of any other Premier League team to have featured in all five subsequent campaigns.

They have both averaged over 60% possession across the same timeframe have lost just 44 matches in total in the past five seasons – a combined total which would see them rank third among all other sides in the English top flight.

With that dominance comes an added focus whenever City and Liverpool lock horns, with past encounters rarely disappointing during that time.
