Manuel Akanji's performance against FC Copenhagen has seen him nominated for the UEFA Champions League Player of the Week award.

The Swiss international produced a fine all-round display at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, as City secured a 3-1 round of 16 second leg victory to secure a 6-2 aggregate triumph.

And the defender topped off a hugely impressive display by rifling City into a fifth minute lead with a sumptuous volley.

Akanji’s fine performance helped not only assure the reigning European champions of our place in the quarter final draw, it also made it 30 games unbeaten in the Champions League at the Etihad.

What’s more, City have now also won our last 10 Champions League matches, becoming the first English side ever to reach that figure.

The vote is open to the public, with the poll closing at 14:00 (UK) on Friday, so have your say via the link below!

Akanji is up against Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane of Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig’s Willi Orban.
