And the defender topped off a hugely impressive display by rifling City into a fifth minute lead with a sumptuous volley.
Akanji’s fine performance helped not only assure the reigning European champions of our place in the quarter final draw, it also made it 30 games unbeaten in the Champions League at the Etihad.
What’s more, City have now also won our last 10 Champions League matches, becoming the first English side ever to reach that figure.
