Approaching the final furlong of 2023/24, Pep Guardiola’s side are relentlessly competing on three fronts for the second successive season.
Following our emphatic 5-1 victory over Luton last time out, we moved to the Premier League’s summit – meanwhile a seismic Champions League quarter-final second leg tie with Real Madrid and FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea are on the horizon this month.
With matches coming thick and fast during the business end of the campaign, the Croatia international explained how a game-by-game approach will best aid our quest for major honours.
“[The win against Luton] was an important one for us and Wednesday [against Real Madrid] is the next one,” he said.
“Every three or four days is a final for us and we just have to keep on going and concentrate on our job.”
A summer signing from Chelsea, Kovacic has made 38 appearances for City so far in all competitions.
Following illustrious spells at Inter, Real Madrid and the Londoners before his arrival at the Etihad Stadium, the combative midfielder says he’s enjoying his role in Guardiola’s system.
He added: “I feel good. I like how the team plays – keeping the ball and trying to be aggressive and fast. I think I had a good game [against Luton], but I never like to speak about myself.
“In general, the team is great and that’s most important.”
