James McAtee has revealed his pride and joy after scoring at the Etihad Stadium for the first time in his career, as he bagged a hat-trick in the 8-0 FA Cup third round victory over Salford City.

The Academy graduate stole the show with his treble, whilst Jeremy Doku also showed sparkling form, scoring twice and assisting twice.

Divin Mubama also found the net in his senior City debut, whilst Nico O’Reilly got his name on the scoresheet in a competitive City fixture for the first time.

Jack Grealish was also on target, coolly slotting in from the penalty spot to ensure City’s place in the fourth round draw for the competition.

WHEN IS THE FA CUP FOURTH ROUND DRAW?

McAtee, who had never scored at the Etihad before, was elated after the victory.

“Obviously, I’ve been here since I was 10 or 11, so scoring my first goal here is a special moment for me and I will remember it forever,” he declared.

“I was quite frustrated in the first half because I wasn’t seeing much of the ball.

“When the first one went in I was just relieved and then my confidence was up, then it kept coming to me and I kept scoring.”

McAtee has been a constant figure in Pep Guardiola‘s matchday squads this season, making ten appearances across all competitions prior to this victory.

The 22-year-old was grateful for the opportunity to show his ability from the start and was delighted with his contribution to the win.

“I don’t think I needed to prove myself necessarily,” he said.

“But to get out there and show people what I can do is a good moment for me and I’m happy I did well.”
