EFL Trophy: Scunthorpe v City Under-21s

Fresh from securing our first win of the Premier League 2 campaign in dramatic circumstances, Brian Barry-Murphy’s young blues face Scunthorpe United in our EFL Trophy curtain-raiser on Tuesday evening.

The Iron currently sit 18th in League Two with three draws for their opening four matches thus far, including a 1-1 stalemate with Sutton United on Saturday.

Wednesday

Carabao Cup third round draw

25 August, following conclusion of West Brom v Arsenal

Wednesday evening sees Manchester City discover who we face in the Carabao Cup third round.

Pep Guardiola‘s men enter the competition at this stage, and will be aiming to defend our crown for a record-breaking fifth successive season.

Our ninth League Cup triumph would also see us surpass Liverpool as the most successful side in the tournament’s history.

The third round of the Carabao Cup is set to take place on the week commencing 20 September.

Thursday

Champions League group stage draw

26 August, 18:00 (CET)

Manchester City will learn who we face in the UEFA Champions League group stages on Thursday evening.

The 2021/22 group stage draw ceremony begins at 18:00 (CET) and is being held in Istanbul, Turkey.

Pep Guardiola’s men make up a 26-strong contingent of teams to have qualified automatically for this stage of the competition and will be joined by the six play-off winners from the two-legged qualifying rounds.

The boss, as well as Ederson, Ruben Dias and Kevin De Bruyne could also pick up prestigious awards during the draw.

Guardiola has been nominated for the UEFA Men’s Coach of the Season, while our City trio have been shortlisted for the Goalkeeper, Defender and Midfielder of the Season awards respectively.

De Bruyne is also up for the 2020-21 Player of the Season award following his exploits in our march to an inaugural Champions League final.

Matchday One for this season’s competition is scheduled for Tuesday 14-Wednesday 15 September.

Pep Guardiola‘s press conference

Pep Guardiola will provide the latest team news ahead of Arsenal’s visit to the Etihad Stadium during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

A bumper Saturday sees Pep Guardiola’s men, our Elite Development Squad and Under-18s all in action.

City welcome Arsenal to the Etihad Stadium for Saturday’s early kick-off (12.30pm), as we aim to make it two wins from two home Premier League matches.
