Having come on as a second half substitute, Ake’s superb 89th minute header set the seal on Tuesday’s magnificent 7-0 win over Leeds at the Etihad.
It was a beguiling and bewitching display from City with the reigning champions taking their Premier League goals under Guardiola past the 500 mark to stand at 506.
City once again utilised their multi-talented squad to the full in overcoming Marcelo Bielsa’s side with the starting eleven showing four changes from the side that beat Wolves at the weekend.

And for his part, Ake believes such an abundance of world class talent – and the drive to constantly seek to improve - are fuelling City’s push for more silverware this term
“I think everyone knows that there are so many top players here. I think it is only good to compete with the best and to be around the best manager in the world and to learn from that,” Ake reflected.
“We have so many players and so many competitions, it is just good to be around, to learn and hopefully get a lot of games as well.
“It is a great feeling. To come on and to be able to score is always good.
“I like to head balls and I have scored a few goals like that so hopefully I can continue to do that. It was a top performance from the team. From the first minute, everyone was on it.
“We are very happy that we scored so many goals as well. It is great to see [the performance]. I think everyone knows what we are capable of but also what kind of energy we put in with the pressing side, tracking back and those kinds of things.
“That is always good to see.”

With Liverpool and Chelsea not playing until Thursday, the victory extended City’s lead at the top of the table to four points – and also hugely boosted our goal difference tally taking us up to a total of plus 31 just two behind Liverpool.
It made it seven league wins on the spin for the reigning champions – and also saw Pep Guardiola’s side chalk up our 33rd win of the calendar year, equalling the record set by Bob Paisley’s famous Liverpool side of 1982/83.
However rather than be fixated about potentially breaking the record at Newcastle on Sunday or the machinations of a compelling title race, Ake insists the City squad will maintain the focus and approach that has worked wonders so far this term.
“We will just do it game by game. There is another one on Sunday,” the Dutch international added.
“We are on a great flow, we are doing really well and everyone feels good.

“We just want to continue that and hopefully we can do the record [of most wins in a year in the top flight], that would be great as well.
“The most important thing is just to continue trying to get the three points and we go from there.”
