Nathan Ake has been included in the Netherlands' World Cup squad.

The defender has made 29 senior international appearances so far, and will be taking part in his first World Cup tournament in Qatar.

Ake has been at the centre of City’s success so far this season, with his versatility proving crucial as the games come thick and fast.

He has made 13 appearances for Pep Guardiola‘s men ahead of the winter break, and is sure to be just as important in Louis van Gaal’s side during the World Cup.

The Dutch failed to qualify for the 2018 edition of the tournament, but reached the semi-finals in 2014, and were runners up four years earlier.

And Ake will be hoping to go one step further this time round as the Netherlands look for their first World Cup triumph.

That journey begins against Senegal on Monday 21 November, with further group fixtures against Qatar and Ecuador to follow.

The defender is joined by two other Premier League players in the squad, those being Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia.

Congratulations to Nathan on his inclusion in the Netherlands squad!
