De Bruyne delivered a stunning piece of skill to set up John Stones’ header that opened the Etihad scoring, delivering a pin-point cross with the outside of his right foot that begged to be finished.
It was just the latest exquisite contribution from City’s midfield maestro and reigning PFA Player of the Year, who has once again lit up the domestic and continental stage this term.
And for former City centre back Onuoha, Sunday’s latest masterclass was merely further evidence as to why the 29-year-old deserves to be recognised as a true-Blue legend.

“It’s outrageous. To reach 100 assists in incredible,” said Nedum, who was a special guest on Sunday’s latest edition of We’re Not Really Here, our dedicated matchday show.
“We all believed he was going to get to 100, but I’m so happy he did it like that.
“The skillset he has is truly incredible. We’re truly blessed here.
“And the number of chances he has created must be a whole lot more.
“Credit to him - he’s been amazing ever since he joined.
“He can achieve so much more and he is a player who I think will go on in a few years to be considered as a City great.”

Shaun Goater, Nedum’s fellow special guest on Sunday’s edition of We’re Not Really Here was equally left awe-struck by De Bruyne’s consistent excellence.
For the Goat, the manner of De Bruyne’s incredible assist for Stones’ opener was the measure of a truly special player.
“Seconds earlier, I thought he could potentially shoot. Then he gets it and sees the run, spot on, absolutely brilliant,” the former City striker declared.
“This is what he does - he delivers this type of stuff!
“Kevin is a player that’s effective in possession and out of possession, working back and making the challenges.
“He finds himself further up the field to also deliver, the boy is just truly brilliant.”
