Five City players were named in the starting XI against Hungary for the World Cup Qualifier on Tuesday evening – a new Club record for our players in the national team.

Raheem Sterling, John Stones, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Kyle Walker were the City quintet named by manager Gareth Southgate.

The previous record was four against Switzerland in 2010 – and with two more City players coming off the bench, we had six players on the pitch at one stage.

That night – a Euro 2012 qualifier – Joe Hart, Joleon Lescott, Gareth Barry and James Milner all started against the Swiss, with Adam Johnson and Shaun Wright-Philips coming off the bench as the Three Lions ended with six City players on the pitch during a 3-1 win.

But never has half the England outfield starting XI been made up of Manchester City stars.

A proud night for the Club, we congratulate our players on this memorable achievement.
