Pep Guardiola’s men were back in the gym following our hard-fought 2-0 Carabao Cup semi-final first leg with at Newcastle United.
Fresh from scoring on his debut at the weekend, Antoine Semenyo once again found the net for our opener early in the second half.
The midfielder poked home from close-range after smart work from Jeremy Doku down the left flank, and thought he was on the scoresheet again after the hour mark, with a clever flick from a corner.
It was eventually ruled out after a lengthy VAR review, but City would eventually take a two-goal lead back to Manchester deep into stoppage time.

And it was one to remember, with excellent interplay between Semenyo, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Cherki eventually ending with the latter firing home.
It means we hold a healthy advantage heading into the second leg at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 4 February, with a place in the final up for grabs.
But City have five matches before that encounter, starting with Saturday’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
Ahead of a busy end to January, the players were hard at work at the CFA to ensure we’re in the best possible shape.
