Ferran Torres’ first City hat-trick helped Pep Guardiola’s men on our way to a pulsating 4-3 victory away to Newcastle.
The hosts took the lead against the run of play on 25 minutes, when Emil Krafth rose highest to head home his first Premier League goal from a searching Jonjo Shelvey corner.
But City rallied and soon found themselves in front with two goals in three minutes.
Joao Cancelo’s ferocious drive from distance took a deflection en route to goal inside 39 minutes, before Torres’ inventive flick from Ilkay Gundogan’s free-kick put Pep Guardiola’s men ahead in sumptuous style.
However, the hosts hauled themselves level once again in first half stoppage time, Joelinton smashing him from the penalty spot after being fouled by Nathan Ake inside the area.
And they got their noses in front once again on the hour, when Joe Willock was first to the rebound to tuck home after City debutant Scott Carson had brilliantly saved the midfielder’s initial spotkick.
But in a mirror image of the first half, a pair of instinctive finishes from Torres ensured that City regained our lead in a devastating two-minute period.
It was just rewards for Pep Guardiola‘s men who, despite having to twice fight back from behind, were full deserving of our record 12th successive away victory.
