Onuoha, a guest on our popular Matchday Live show, says City were the better team at the City Ground on Saturday but he also emphasised the importance of taking your chances in order to claim all three points.
He said: They did have control of the game but it just shows that in the Premier League you have to be clinical, especially away from home.
“You knew Forest would have a go at some point. They dripfed momentum and even though they only had one shot on target, look at the nature of that finish – it was a tap in.
“That shows they got plenty of players forward. They will feel like they got what they deserved from that second-half performance.
“When we speak about being clinical that is upfront, in midfield and at the back. In the Premier League, if you assume that one goal is enough you will get a rude awakening and that’s what we saw.”
Saturday’s draw came hours after Arsenal snatched a late victory over Aston Villa to return to the top of the Premier League.
City had moved to the summit with Wednesday’s win over Mikel Arteta’s team but now we find ourselves two points behind the leaders, who also has a game in hand.
However, Onuoha insists there is plenty of time for City to turn it around.
“In the wider context, there are still plenty of games left,” he said.
“City will believe that they can go on a run of winning matches, not just staying unbeaten. I think if they are to win the title that’s what they have to do now.”
