Oleks Zinchenko says Tuesday’s Champions League last 16 second leg clash with Borussia Monchengladbach marks the start of the ‘most important two months of the City squad’s careers.’

Pep Guardiola’s side will tackle Gladbach at the Puskas Arena holding a vital 2-0 lead from last month’s first leg encounter.

And with City holding a 14-point advantage at the top of the Premier League table, through to next month’s Carabao Cup final and facing an FA Cup quarter-final at Everton this weekend, the squad are still very much in the hunt for an unprecedented quadruple.

Addressing the media at Tuesday’s pre-match press conference, the Ukrainian full-back revealed that there was a collective hunger for silverware amongst the City dressing room.

“Inside the dressing room, I can see the hungry eyes. Everyone is so hungry for the titles,” Zinchenko asserted.

“That is what we want. At this period, right now, I would say there is around two months left of the season. The most important two months in our careers.

“With the legends like Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho, who have been here 10 years, they deserve it. We are going to try.

“I have said of lot of times already, we are still playing all competitions and we want to try and win everything. That means we have to show our best in every performance.

“Is it possible to win everything? Yeah, of course. Bayern Munich showed last year, they won everything. Barcelona did it with Pep.

“Of course, everything is possible. We have got an unbelievable squad, the best players in the world. Why not?”

Looking ahead to Tuesday’s game, despite holding that crucial lead from the first leg, Zinchenko said there was huge respect for the talent and threat posed by the Bundesliga side.

And he insisted there was no danger of any complacency amongst the squad.

“At this stage, all teams are quite strong and have a lot of quality players. Especially if we are talking about Borussia Monchengladbach,” Zinchenko added.

“They organise well defensively. It is not easy to create chances against these kinds of teams. It is never easy at this stage.

“And, of course, at this stage of the Champions League it is always a tough game. That’s why we have to organise well and do our best.”
