Pep Guardiola‘s men knew that a point tonight would see them through to the knockouts of the competition, but the intentions of winning the match were clear early on, with City dominating the ball and pushing the Greek side’s backline deep into their own half.
City probed well in the opening 30 minutes, with a long-range strike from Rodri well handled by goalkeeper Jose Sa.
Our patience finally paid off after 36 minutes, with Raheem Sterling superbly backheeling the ball into the path of Phil Foden, who swept the ball into the bottom corner from ten yards.
Guardiola‘s side emerged from the interval with a clear hunger for a second goal, with Ilkay Gundogan coming inches within doubling the lead, curling a powerful effort from 18 yards just wide of the post.
City kept coming forward, producing wave after wave of attacks, with Bernardo Silva coming closest next, flicking the ball towards goal from five yards but Sa was well positioned to block the effort.
Fernandinho made his return to action from the bench, as well as Sergio Aguero and youngster Tommy Doyle, who made his Champions League debut, as City saw out the victory!
