In his 93rd appearance for City, popular Dutch midfielder Nigel de Jong finally scores his first goal for City.

De Jong struck a ball from outside the box that somehow found its way through several bodies and into the corner of the West Ham net – the goal almost lifted the roof off the City of Manchester Stadium and the Blues go on to win 2-1.

City recover from a goal down to beat Aston Villa 3-1 at the Etihad.

Carlos Tevez levels on 41 minutes from the penalty spot and Emmanuel Adebayor scores again two minutes later to send Roberto Mancini’s side in 2-1 up at the break. Craig Bellamy scores a third in the last minute to secure a 3-1 victory.

Paulo Wanchope scores a vital second-half winner against Newcastle which moves Kevin Keegan’s men six points clear of the drop zone.

After two promising seasons back in the Premier League, City had become embroiled in a relegation dog-fight, primarily with Leeds. City finally managed to pull clear and all-but guarantee safety with a 1-0 win over Newcastle.

Leeds’ 4-1 loss to Bolton the following day confirmed City’s top-flight status barring a 30-goal and six-point swing in the final two fixtures!


2014

City Women fall to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Doncaster Rovers Belles in the Continental Cup.

Despite dominating possession in the second half and creating a hatful of chances, Nick Cushing’s side are unable to recover from 2-0 down, with Toni Duggan’s injury-time strike proving too little, too late.

2016

The Manchester City Women’s Official Supporters Club welcomes its 100th member.

Having launched in the February, the OSC reaches the milestone in super-quick time, mirroring the rise of women’s football.
