Events, games and moments on this day in our history....

November 17

2012: Doubles from Argentine duo Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero helped City to an emphatic 5-0 win over Aston Villa, and put Roberto Mancini’s reigning Premier League champions top of the tree for the first time that season in the process.

David Silva initially bundled us ahead from close-range just before the break, before our record scorer and Tevez both slotted home penalties within the opening 20 minutes of the second half.

Aguero was once again on the scoresheet just three minutes after his fellow countryman’s spot kick, before Tevez added his second and City’s fifth with a back-post tap-in from Samir Nasri’s inviting low cross with 15 minutes to go.

2019: It was certainly a memorable 100th City appearance for Georgia Stanway when Nick Cushing’s side took on West Ham at the Academy Stadium last year.

By half-time, our England midfielder had grabbed a brace and, with further strikes from Ellen White and Lauren Hemp, we found ourselves four goals to the good against the Hammers.

But after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession for late challenges, Stanway was then given her marching orders with around 20 minutes to go.

The damage had already been done though, and Tessa Wullaert’s clinical finish early in the half, secured a convincing 5-0 win.
