City take the FA Cup trophy on a tour of Manchester.
Won eight days earlier, when Roberto Mancini’s side beat Stoke City 1-0, the homecoming celebration takes place the day after the final day of the 2010/11 Premier League season.
Around 100,000 attend the parade and open top bus tour, which journeys through the City centre, before heading to Eastlands, as the Etihad Stadium was then known.
Albert Square, outside Manchester Town Hall, is one of the busier spots, with thousands there to salute the champions, whilst almost 40,000 wait inside the stadium for a firework display, presentation and lap of honour.
2013
City complete a remarkable comeback to beat Chelsea 4-3 in a post-season friendly in the United States, having trailed by three goals after an hour.
With Brian Kidd in caretaker charge after Roberto Mancini’s departure, City score four times in the final 30 minutes, with Micah Richards netting the winner in added time.
A Cesar Azpilicueta penalty, plus goals from Demba Ba and Oscar appeared to have put the result beyond doubt, but City scored twice in as many minutes through Javi Garcia and Edin Dzeko to stay within touching distance.
The Bosnian striker equalises six minutes from time, before Richards pounces to decide the game.
46,000 fans are in attendance at St Louis’ Bush Stadium, home of Major League Baseball’s St Louis Cardinals, and which is hosting its first ever non-baseball professional sporting event.
