A local lad, Corrigan made more than 600 appearances and was voted Player of the Year three times by fans, whilst winning two League Cups and a UEFA Cup Winners Cup.
His stay in the States proved short lived, as Seattle collapsed after a few months, which saw Joe return to England with Brighton and Hove Albion.
However, without his reassuring presence between the sticks, City were relegated to Division Two at the end of the 1982/83 campaign for the first time in 17 years.
2000
Promotion-chasing City end a seven-game winless run in dramatic fashion against Division One strugglers, West Bromwich Albion.
Lee Hughes had given the Baggies the lead with a fine curling effort, but Joe Royle’s side levelled through Mark Kennedy’s 30-yard drive.
Deep into added time, it looked like we’d be forced to settle for a point, until Shaun Goater guided Paul Dickov’s cross home from inside the six-yard box to send Maine Road into raptures.
2014
City completed a derby double over Manchester United as we eased to a 3-0 win over David Moyes’ side at Old Trafford.
Edin Dzeko put us ahead inside a minute and it was a lead we never looked like losing. The Bosnian volleyed home a second after half-time, with Yaya Toure completing a comfortable victory in added time.
An important win in the hotly contested 2014 title race in which we ultimately prevailed.
2018
City advance to the semi-finals of the SSE Women’s FA Cup after Jane Ross’ late double and another from Ella Toone help complete a remarkable 4-2 win over Sunderland after extra-time.
Nick Cushing’s side come from behind twice in normal time through South Shields-born Demi Stokes and Ross’ injury-time leveller, before the Scotland international pounces to turn the game in City’s favour and Toone bags her first senior goal.
The eventful clash also marks Izzy Christiansen’s 100th City appearance.
