The great Colin Bell scores the only goal of the game as City beat Rotherham 1-0 at Millmoor to win promotion at the first attempt under the new management team of Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison.
Bell’s goal leaves City four points clear of second placed Huddersfield Town and third placed Coventry, who both had only one game remaining.
Southampton, in fourth, had three games to play so it would be another two games before City were crowned champions of Division Two.

It is announced that Yaya Toure will call time on his legendary City career at the end of the 2017/18 season.
Pep Guardiola reveals the Ivorian midfielder will make his final appearance at the last home game of the season against Brighton and Hove Albion, where the 34-year-old captains the team to a 3-1 victory.

2019
City win the 2019 FA Women’s Cup at Wembley with a 3-0 win over West Ham.
