The Tigers’ Ahmed Elmohamady puts through his own goal to put City ahead and further goals from Sergio Aguero and Fabian Delph secure the three points.
A late consolation for the visitors is the only blot on the copybook as City strengthen their grip on fourth spot.

Goals from James Milner and Sergio Aguero give City a 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Milner gives City the lead before Phil Jones levels for the Reds.
But Aguero has the final say with a stunning individual effort on 78 minutes and though it still leaves City 12 points behind United, it at least gives our fans some bragging rights for a day or two.

Mikel Arteta seems to have put a hammer blow in City’s fading title hopes.
Mario Balotelli was sent off and things get worse when the Arsenal midfielder and future City coach scores from long range with three minutes left to secure a 1-0 win for the Gunners and leave Roberto Mancini’s side trailing Manchester United by eight points with just six games remaining.
After the game, James Milner tells CityTV, “We won’t give up.” And they don’t.

Manchester City claim their first silverware after winning the Division Two title in a canter and finally arriving as a major force. The Blues’ home form – 16 wins, one draw and one defeat – sees them promoted as champions with Glossop North End finishing runners up, some six points behind.

Joe Royle is born on 8 April 1949 in Norris Green, Liverpool.
Royle enjoyed playing and managerial spells with City, tallying 99 appearances and scoring 23 goals between 1974 and 1977 and and guiding the Club to back-to-back promotions to the Premier League between 1998 and 2000.
Keira Walsh is born in Rochdale on Tuesday 8 April 1997.
The lifelong City fan is one of the Club’s all-time highest appearance makers in women’s professional football and one of the most technically-gifted players in the game.
She has played a pivotal role in helping the Club to six trophies in her six years.
