Having joined City’s youth ranks in the summer of 2019 from Norwegian side Valerenga, the attacking midfielder went on to enjoy four stellar seasons within our Academy before being elevated into the first team squad last summer.
Since then, the 20-year-old has continued to take huge strides in his development, making his Premier League and Champions League debuts as well as also registering his maiden goals for the Club in both competitions.
Bobb was also part of the City squad that lifted both the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in the latter part of 2023.
All told, the Norwegian international has so far made 16 appearances across all competitions this term, scoring twice and also providing two assists.
Commenting on his new deal, Oscar said: “I am very proud and honoured to have signed my new contract with City.
“It’s an incredible environment and the best possible place to be for a young player - I have already learnt so much from Pep, his coaching staff and my team-mates.
“To know I’m going to be here at the Club until 2029 means everything to me.
“Now I just want to focus on continuing to further my development and to work as hard as I can every day to try and help then Club achieve more success.”
City Director of Football Txiki Begiristain added: “Oscar is blessed with superb natural talent and technique and has already established himself as a very important member of the squad.
“He is an exciting young player who is always hungry to learn and who takes on board all the advice and guidance Pep and the coaching staff provide him with.
“We have been delighted to watch his progression from our Academy through to the first team and to see his fantastic ability, attitude and application continue to prosper.
“And to have another young player emerge from our Academy and become a first-team player is a source of huge pride for everyone at the football club.
“Oscar is developing all the time, and we believe he can help to bring even more success to the Club in the coming years.”

Upwardly mobile
If one were to trace a graph charting Oscar Bobb’s Manchester City progress over the past four and half years, it would be one of a continual upward trajectory.
Bobb made the move to Manchester from his native Norway in the summer of 2019 already armed with the reputation of being one of Europe’s most exciting emerging young talents.
Comfortable either playing out wide or in a more central, Bobb’s superb talent and technique allied to a cool, calm demeanour on and off the field have seen him make a huge impact.
He was part of City Under-18 side that won the 2020 FA Youth Cup along with the 2020-21 regional and national Premier League titles, scoring in the national final as City beat Fulham 3-1 to lift the trophy.
The 2021-22 season saw Oscar graduate to our Elite Development Squad where he immediately made his presence and prodigious ability tell.
He scored seven goals in 23 appearances across that campaign, helping Brian Barry-Murphy’s side secure the Premier League 2 title for a second successive season with his contribution further recognised by being named the EDS Player of the Year.
Bobb was also named on the bench for City’s FA Cup fourth round tie away at Swindon Town in January 2022 where he was an unused substitute.
The 2022/23 season saw Bobb’s career take even greater flight with his skill, vision and temperament coalescing to enormous effect as Barry-Murphy’s youngsters created history by becoming the first side to win the PL2 title for a third consecutive year.
The Norwegian made 25 appearances in total, contributing an incredible 17 assists, the most in PL2, and scoring six goals.
Bobb was subsequently voted as the EDS Player of Year once again, providing yet further evidence of the esteem with which he is held in across the Club.
After catching the eye of Begiristain, Oscar was then being included in City’s squad for our 2023 summer Tour to Asia, where he made a huge impression before then making the permanent step up to Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad.
He was then part of the City squad that lifted the UEFA Super Cup in August via a penalty shoot-out victory over Sevilla and subsequently made his Premier League debut in early September, coming on as a substitute in our 5-1 Etihad win against Fulham.
Bobb then that up by making his Champions League bow from the bench in City’s 3-1 opening Group G win at home to Red Star Belgrade.
A first senior international cap for Norway then followed in October before he registered his first international goal the following month in a EURO 2024 qualifying win against Cyprus.
Bobb then netted his maiden senior City goal during December’s 3-2 Champions’ League group win away to Red Star and was also part of the squad that lifted the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia later that month where he started our semi-final win against Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds and then came on as a substitute in our 3-0 final win against Fluminense of Brazil.
His impressive development has continued apace in 2024.
Oscar memorably notched up his first Premier League goal in January with a superb effort that not only securing a dramatic 3-2 win at Newcastle, but which was also voted that month’s Premier League goal of the month.
Last week Bobb, who has already been afforded his own affectionate chant from the City fans, made his first Premier League start in our 1-0 home win over Brentford.
“There were no promises about game time this season” Oscar reflected after that Newcastle game.
“It was an opportunity to be a part of this team, that’s all I wanted. To get to be around it every day is literally a dream come true. It’s the best feeling ever.”
Now his superb progress has seen him rewarded with a new long-term contract.
And if the past few years are anything to go the best is very much yet to come.
