Rayan Cherki made it four goal involvements in two Premier League matches this season as his brace inspired City to a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

The Eagles, playing for the first time at home in the new season, began well but it was Enzo Maresca’s side who found the opener after 17 minutes.

Antoine Semenyo’s superb curling cross was met by the head of Erling Haaland to expertly loop us ahead, maintaining his phenomenal record of scoring every time he’s faced Palace in the top-flight.

We remained on the front foot after the goal and almost made it two shortly after, but Phil Foden swept over from a promising position after a free-flowing move.

Shortly after the interval, Cherki was at his sparkling best after receiving Foden’s pass, evading multiple challenges before deftly poking into the bottom corner to double our lead.

The hosts pulled one back two minutes later as Yeremy Pino’s free-kick struck the post and deflected into the net off Gianluigi Donnarumma, giving them hope of a comeback.

But, with the clock ticking towards the hour mark, Cherki restored our two-goal lead in sublime fashion, firing into the top left corner from the edge of the box.

With five minutes left to play, Haaland thundered in his second of the evening from Foden’s perfectly weighted pass to ensure we maintain our 100% winning start to the new league season.
