Pep Guardiola says City have been 'more than decent' in recent weeks as we continue our hunt for more silverware in 2023/24.

Saturday’s draw with Chelsea brought an end to an 11-match winning run that began at the FIFA Club World Cup in December.

It leaves City third in the Premier League with a game in hand on title rivals Liverpool and Arsenal.

That comes against Brentford on Tuesday, where victory will take us up to second.

City v Brentford | Match preview

The Catalan is the most decorated manager in the Club’s history having lifted 16 major honours with City, including 2023’s Big Five.

Reflecting on our recent performances in his pre-match press conference, Guardiola stated that he is satisfied with his players.

“We played to win the game,” he said.

“Always we can accept we don’t be in top level for 90 minutes but since the moment they scored and in the last 10 minutes of the first half and second half we were in our best level.

“I know the standards we have created because of what we have done in the past. I understand.

“What I am seeing I am more than satisfied.

“I give credit to Chelsea but in general we were more than decent.

“I know our standards. You demand the standards of the past. For 11 months of the season, it’s not easy but we are there.

“We drew a game against Chelsea and now we have to do it. We won 11 in a row and people said we weren’t going to lose again.”

Having won so much during Guardiola‘s seven and a half seasons in charge, the boss is proud of his players for maintaining a challenge for trophies every season.

Despite that, the boss accepts that we will need to take our chances in games going forward if we’re to end the season with a record fourth straight title.

“Are we going to win the Premier League? I don’t know but still we are there and we will continue,” he stated.

“We were not satisfied [after Chelsea] but it’s part of the game. We don’t play alone, give credit to Chelsea for how they play in the first half.

“We had a lot of chances, more in the second than the first.

“We have to improve, improve, improve and focus on the title race.”
