Pep Guardiola says his City side must not be distracted by other results in the Premier League title race.

We are second in the Premier League and two points off leaders Liverpool with a game in hand as we hunt a record fourth straight triumph.

Guardiola’s team have won the last 11 matches across all competitions including six league games as the battle for silverware again gathers pace.

Arsenal are also in contention for top spot, with Mikel Arteta’s team also two points off Liverpool having played the same amount of games.

We now face a busy few days of domestic action, with a meeting with Chelsea on Saturday before that game in hand against Brentford is played on Tuesday.

With plenty of twists and turns expected before the medals are handed out, Guardiola says the aim for his side is simple.

“We just need to win our games,” he said.

“When we arrive with eight or nine games left we will see how many teams will be involved.

“All the teams might be there but we cannot see.

“If we are there we just need to win our games. It doesn’t matter if there are two, three or four, we just need to do our job. The rest doesn’t count”

As well as extensive experience of getting over the line – City have won five of the last six Premier Leagues – we are well versed with competing on multiple fronts at once.

Having achieved an historic Treble last term, we are again still in the mix for the FA Cup and Champions League honours.

While that leaves us with a busier schedule, Guardiola would not trade our position with sides fully focused on the league.

“The teams in European competitions have more games than the other ones but we would prefer to be there rather than not play European competitions. We do not complain at all,” he said.
