And on Sunday, the three architects of our historic achievement – Pep Guardiola, Enzo Maresca and Carlos Vicens – were photographed with their respective trophies, alongside captains Fernandinho, Tommy Doyle and Kwaku Oduroh.
The first of our successes was confirmed in April when Maresca’s Elite Development Squad won the Club’s first-ever PL2 title. City were dominant throughout the campaign and finished 14 points ahead of nearest challengers Chelsea.
That was followed up three weeks later when Guardiola’s first team secured the Premier League title for the third time in four years after Manchester United’s defeat to Leicester left us with an unassailable 10-point lead with three games of the season remaining. We have now won 10 of the last 15 available major English trophies at senior level – and we will lift this season’s Premier League trophy after our final home game of the season against Everton on Sunday.
And on Saturday, our U18s were crowned 2020/21 U18 Premier League National champions as Vicens’ side sealed the prestigious title with a superb 3-1 victory over Fulham in Saturday’s showpiece final at the Academy Stadium.
City had already won the Under-18 Premier League North crown earlier this month and today’s success saw us retain the national title we won on a points per game basis last season in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vicens’ youngsters achieved a remarkable level of consistency throughout the league campaign, winning 20 of our 24 Under-18 North games, whilst our solitary loss was sandwiched between 11 and 12 match unbeaten runs.
It means we are the first Club to win U18 league titles (both regional and national), the Premier League 2 and the Premier League in the same season.
