Pep Guardiola says he refuses to look at the fixture schedule to prevent himself from becoming overly concerned by our hectic calendar.

City remain on course for four trophies this season after a fine run of form that has seen us win our last 16 matches across all competitions.

It has left our season beautifully poised: seven points clear at the top of the Premier League, into the final of the Carabao Cup for the fourth successive season, safely through to the FA Cup quarter-finals and about to resume our Champions League campaign at the last-16 stage.

It’s a wonderful situation to be in, but with the season condensed due to the global health pandemic causing a late start, it means there will be a relentless rhythm of matches for City in the coming weeks and months.

And Guardiola says ignorance is bliss!

“I try to not look because I become depressed immediately!” Guardiola said in a somewhat tongue-in-cheek manner.

“I see everyone next I don’t look further.

“The international break will be relief for managers and backroom team!

“We don’t look at schedule - prepare for the next game and then move on.”

Meanwhile, Guardiola confirmed Kevin De Bruyne will travel with the City squad to Goodison Park for Wednesday’s crucial Premier League game against Everton.

City know a win will move us 10 clear of second-placed Manchester United.

De Bruyne hasn’t featured since our win over Aston Villa on January 20, but he is back in training and will travel to Merseyside.

“He travels with us,” Guardiola said.
