The Catalan has won the world’s oldest club competition twice during his seven full seasons at City, lifting it in 2018/19 and last season.
That final victory over Manchester United in June was the second leg of City’s historic Treble.
CITY V HUDDERSFIELD TOWN | MATCH PREVIEW
We begin our defence of the trophy on Sunday afternoon when Championship side Huddersfield Town visit the Etihad Stadium for a 14:00 start.
On the eve of that fixture, Guardiola has reiterated the respect City hold for the historic competition.
“You will not find one person in this Club who doesn’t love it,” he said.
“I was not born in this country but when I arrived I know how important this competition is.
“The draw you can play away in League One or below. Everyone can beat everyone.
“In my time, except one year, we behave very well in the FA Cup.
“Semi-finals most years, two times in the finals we won it. We want to do it.
“FA Cup is really nice. It is weekend not midweek so to prioritise FA Cup rather than the league shows how important it is to the country.”
If we’re to return to Wembley for this year’s final, we will first need to progress through five rounds.
Ilkay Gundogan was the hero of last season’s showpiece, scoring a volley less than 13 seconds in before another in the second half earned us the victory in the first ever all-Manchester final.
Ahead of the tournament’s return, Guardiola took the opportunity to reflect on our last visit to the national stadium.
“We were two games away from the Treble and United is the biggest rival for our fans,” he started.
“I took into consideration United how they play at the time.
“The control and connection between Fernandes, Rashford and Sancho. We were lucky to start in the first instance. Second half we play in the final really good.
“It helped us arrive in a good mood for the [Champions League] final against Inter. Against United it was a little more special we have to admit. For our fans more special. I was trying to be focused on what we had to do.”
